EASY RIDING “HYBRID STEP UP”

Super durable and versatile shortboard or step-up with a strong preference for good waves

42yo-170lbs-strong intermediate. (6'2" sabotage) Lost is advertising this as a "one board quiver." A term that has been overused to the point of being meaningless. This board is a bit wider and thicker in the center with a more sporty and trimmed down nose and tail. It is also rockered in the nose and tail and flatter in the center. The rails are pretty knifey at the nose and tail. The idea (as I see it) is to integrate smaller wave board characteristics in the center and HP shortboard characteristics in the ends. This is a bit different than the Hypto Krypto's approach with HP in the back half and small wave in the front. Although I had incredible performance on the Hypto Krypto I found it to be limited in other than a narrow waist to head high range and not to choppy or hollow conditions. Where as the SaboTaj gives me confidence in a wide range of wave conditions. It surfs surprisingly well in soft waves and is absolutely mental in bigger and more serious waves. Although I felt it was maybe a bit too much volume when I first started surfing it (35l) I have since changed my mind. It catches waves with ease but is knifey and rockered enough for late drops and steep fast faces. I have several new boards and a complete quiver but this is the only one I've been on this season other than a few smaller days on the Lost Hydra. I just can't get off the board. It hits the balance of wave catching ability v.s. security in powerful waves. Plus it has an huge range of good performance. It is most limited in small and weak surf which is my preferred tradeoff as I'd rather have performance in good waves at the sacrifice of the smaller weaker waves. (I live in mainland Mexico with mostly good to great waves.) All that to say, yes this checks all the boxes for a "one board quiver"/ travel board. Build: If you haven't figured it out already Lib Tech's EcoImpact is the next progression of surfboards. Equatable weight/performance to traditional poly boards and stronger than a woman-of-the-evening's lady bits. Essentially all of my boards are now EcoImpact. This durability makes this board even better for travel. Fins: I have only used their proprietary large thruster (Tri Fin Large as they call it) thus far. The fit in the strange fin box feels as secure as Futures as compared to the ill fitting FCS. Yes the fin box will accept FCS but the screws are vulnerable to blowout with impacts that the fit of the proprietary fins would take in stride. I prefer to surf with the fins pushed all the way forward. Sabotaj summary: Super durable and versatile shortboard or step-up with a strong preference for good waves

Fabuleuse

This board rips

Great outline, this board surfs unreal in powerful waves over chest high. Don't be put off by the higher volume this board turns well and is very responsive plus it will paddle you out of trouble. Rode it as a quad on a trip and the bigger days at home, ideal travel board.

Bez
