Finally decided to try something directional with the intent of it being more of a pow-day only deck. After spending a few consecutive days on it, I’m convinced I’ll ride the orca in every condition without really compromising much. Carves awesome, goes backwards pretty well, and is very stable through the worst of chop. This board makes me ride better.
Got to ride it in pow, on groomers and down some steep bumps and crud. Handles everything great. Super poppy tail. Unsinkable in the pow. Rails on the groomers and the magnetraction edge holds on the steepest slopes. A+ board. Also very light weight!
Floats like a butterfly and stings the bee.
Been working in the snowboard tour industry for over 2 decades which got me the ability to test new boards every year. Last year I was riding the Capita Spring Break Tree Hunter and loved it. But the Orca just crushes it on hardpack or icey runs and floats like a bee when riding pow. You can literally lay in a 180 degree carve because of the sidecut and magne traction. Unbelievable shape and materials make this a true all rounder. Lib-Tech: Please make a splitboard version of the Orca! I'm begging you! Please!!
Gave myself an early xmas present. Have not had a board that carves this hard before. 100% recommend.
